The Action Center is just as unnecessary as the UAC.

Right-click the date/time in the notification area and select Properties. Select the setting "Off" for the Action Center Click Ok OR Right click empty area on task bar > Select properties Click "customize" Click the link "Turn system icons on or off"

You can click on the little UP arrow immediately to the left of the Action Center flag. In the little box that pops up, click Customize. At the very top of the Notification Area Icons box, you should see Action Center. Click the down arrow next to it and select "Hide Icon and Notifications". Click OK to close.

The Action Center is just as unnecessary as the UAC. Joe -That's a matter of opinion. One you're certatinly entitled to. Personally, I'd rather have a notification when something is trying to make changes on my system with or without my consent. But hey, that's just me and a few million or two people who understand what it's about. As far as ActionCenter is concerned, it's a feature that combines a number of security and maintenence applets into one. Hey... If you'd rather have them all over the place, by all means. You've got options. But don't expect these features to go away because you find them unnecessary...
