A change has occurred to my internet settings while travelling overseas
Late in 2009 I bought a light-weight Sony X-series laptop that I can take with me when I travel. It was pre-installed with Windows 7. Before beginning my journey, I was easily able to connect to the internet at home using wirless modem. While travelling I used many public domain wifi connections at hotels and airports, etc. All worked well. When I arrived back home, I have not been able to connect to the internet. There have been no changes with the home set-up. The other computers at home continue to connect to the internet. My wife brought her lap-top on our journey, and she is able to access the internet from home.I am not aware of any changes to the settings of my new computer. It informs me that I have a wireless connection with our Netgear modem, yet I cannot connect to any webpages.I have, for a short while, turned off the firewall, that did not allow access to the internet. I have turned it back on, again because no settings have knowingly been changed. I think that the problem may be something more basic, which I keep missing.I hope that someone can help me.

Hi, Please try the following: 1. Please run “ipconfig /all” to check if you have got a valid IP address. 2. Check if the pings to some URLs are successful. 3. Remove the wireless profile of your home network and recreate it to see how it works: 1) Go to Network and Sharing Center. 2) Click “Manage wireless networks”. 3) In Manage Wireless Networks window, remove the wireless profile of your home network. 4) Disconnect your wireless network and reconnect. 4. Reset Internet Explorer settings: How to reset Internet Explorer settings Hope this helps. Thanks. Nicholas Li - MSFT
