Hi , Thanks for the reply.Yeah i tried that but it wont let me install any new anti-virus softwareI have the computer in safe mode and I am reading up on ithttp://support.microsoft.com/kb/890830but it wont install any software from a USB key or website.driving me mad. hahaha

Hello JohnMacD,If this system has been without an antivirus program, your safest & best thing to do is to wipe the HDD and do a clean install of Windows. If you do have an antivirus, then, if there's blockage in your use of normal mode Windows, logoff, restart and right away tap & retap F8-key to get Advanced Boot Menu, then select Safe Mode With Networking.NB: You can't install (should not away run a exe directly from a website). Rather, save the download and then after do the setup.IF you have blockage to do any downloads at all, use another (but clean) pc to do downloads and then save & burn to CD/DVD or copy to new (unused) thumb-drive and then copy to Desktop of problem system.Then do setup(s) as needed.Consider getting guided help for free at an anti-malware forum !
