Abnormal explorer.exe behaviour
I wasn't really sure where to post this, but I've noticed some abnormal behaviour by explorer.exe. This is a result of trying to find a fix for the fact that explorer.exe gobbles up a huge amount of system resources when using the Search function (search is unusable on my machine). As I've posted in the thread explorer.exe resumed normal behaviour after killing and starting it in the Task Manager. This used to work fine on XP, but after rebooting I noticed that a few of the icons in the System Tray were suddenly hidden. When I opened Customize notification icons to restore the icons to their former glory I noticed that the entire list was reset to its default value! It only showed the few system icons and none of the applications I had installed so far. While this inadvertently led to a fix for another thread (Notification Icon list problem) I'm still looking around if other parts of my installation weren't affected as well. Has anybody experienced the same behaviour after restarting explorer.exe manually? Has this problem perhaps been reported before and is there a (partial) list of the side effects?

last three days increasingly silly explorer behaviour, would not goto download pages, even from microsoftkept losing the page and recovering itcould not find a way to stop narrator and magnifier starting with windows although randomly they would not.....with me so far?trying to reach download links or even just page links began to switch off the broadband. Crashed and recovered several times.Lost the recent programs in the start menu. crashed and booted from usb. win seven installation booted from the usb but I chose repair. windows started with the narrator missing it's window, impossible to switch off, began going in circles and stumbled on Spy_net here is a copy of the feedback I sent:" :DI switched on spy net and instantly the narrator window appeared! and magnfier which I have slight trouble with.Obvious that you have an advanced trojan (or something) which I think came in with the last or second last defender update. Will post idea on forums"I see a lot of virus affected machines, people give them to me when they stop working (or they upgrade) I was on the lookout for this. You gotta admit it's funny, they target your virus checker first and change the settings or worse they use it everytime you run it to do more damage. I saw signs that something I wasn't running would run and I noticed the narrator was speaking the code for the windows "open narrator, child zero "I thought something was up when I had to switch defender on sometimes and not others.
