Thanks for your help Milos. I checked the link you listed above - and it does not appear to have information related to my problem, and the links to Microsoft resources all assume you have a product key of some sort. Mine probably was in an email on my old hard drive which is now gone. In my situation I really need to be able to contact Microsoft and have them verify that I have rights to an upgrade download via my prior purchase. However to do that it appears I have to pay several hundred dollars to talk with anyone. This is more than the value of my computer at this point - especially in its current state. Any ideas? Hi, Based on my understanding, it appears that you have lost your product key for upgrade. If so, it is recommended to contact Microsoft Online Store Sales and support for help. Also, you can login with your Live ID and check your Order History from Microsoft Online Store. And when you retrieve the upgrade product key, please try to use Windows Anytime Upgrade again. Hope this helps. Jeremy Wu TechNet Community Support

I upgraded my Dell Studio Windows 7 Home Premium system to Windows 7 Ultimate using an Upgrade Anytime I purchased online from Microsoft. My hard drive failed recently - and now I have a new drive from Dell with a new Dell installed Windows 7 Home Premium OS. I can't restore my backup files - probably because the backups were made in Windows 7 Ultimate - and I'm running Home Premium now. How can I get the Upgrade Anytime downloaded and installed again without paying for it again? And a related question - my original C: drive was encrypted using BitLocker. Are the backup files on my external drive created from that system going to be encrypted as well? Is this going to be an issue as I try to restore my files from my Windows Backup?
