Allow guest access to shared folder w/password protection
I have Home Premium. I want to allow guest access to one of my folders, but when I try to connect with the guest account I get the error:You might not have permssion to use this network resource...Logon failure: the user has not been granted the requested logon type at this computer.I could just disable password protected sharing, but then I have no control over which accounts can access what, and every shared folder can be accessed by everyone. Can someone tell me how to accomplish this?

Hi, You can disable Password Protected Sharing and configure the permission as follow: To configure the share folders so that anyone on your network can be given access, grant read permission to the Guest or everyone. To configure the share folders so that you do not want anyone on your network to be given access, do not add the Guest and everyone in the File Sharing window. For your reference, Ive also included the following article regarding the file sharing in Windows Vista: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb727037.aspx Hope it helps.

Well, now I can login as guest. However, now it doesn't prompt for password if I want to connect to a share folder that needs an account (it only attempt as guest). I found a solution though from here: http://www.bizpassion.com/?p=68Basically, run: 'net use * /delete'then right-click on the folder, Map Network Drive, connect using a different user name. Then it will prompt for login and password, and you can connect using something other than guest.
