BUG: WMIC Command Line Tool - Templates in wrong location
Hi, I'd love to report this through the "Send Feedback" link but it will not work for me at all. So I thought I'd put it here and hope that someone can re-raise it through the correct channels.Technet has an article on using WMIC (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb742610.aspx). It mentions that you can re-format the output using XSL files, some of which are already provided. This does not work in Windows 7 (I am using the Universal edition from MSDN subscriber downloads). The templates are not actually in %systemroot%\system32\wbem where the article says (note that the article incorrectly has a leading \ on the path). They are in the .\en-US sub-folder. This means that WMIC cannot find them unless you copy them from the sub-folder to the parent. You don't seem to be able to specify a path to the template in the WMIC command so there does not seem to be any other way around this issue. As a side note, it is interesting the the template "files" in wbem\en-US are actually LINKS to files under the %systemroot%\winsxs folder. I think this is the first time I've actually seen LINKS used officially in Windows.PS: This WYSIWYG editor does not work fully under Firefox 3. I cannot get the hyperlink tool to work.Regards,Julian Knight, http://it.knightnet.org.uk

Did you install the WMI snap-in located in MMC? You can control WMI from the WMI Control snap-in in the MMC. 1) Hit the Start button, type MMC and hit enter.2) If you have UAC enabled, youll have to answer the prompt that this is okay to run3) Under file click Add/Remove Snapin and then choose the WMI Control snapin at the bottom of the list provided. 4) Youll be given the option to manage this on your local system or a remote one.5) Unlike many MMC snap-ins this is actually a separate dialog so all you get in the tree is a single node with no child nodes. Right click it and choose Properties to get at its settings. Also see:http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/2009.02.windowspowershell.aspxCarey Frisch
