Backup
When trying to set up a backup I get the error message 0x80070424 and it says that the specified service does not exist as an installed service. When I look for the services to install them I can not find them listed. Has anyone including Microsoft heard of this error before. I tried their support page but want to charge me saying that I haven't activated Windows yet, when I check my system status it says it is activated.

Hi firefighter1956, Please try the following suggestions and see if the issue can be resolved: - Go to Start, input services.msc in the Search box and then press Enter. Check if Windows Backup service is Started and set as "Manual". If not, change it to Manual and click Start to start it. You can stop and then restart it, reboot to see the result. - If issue still exists, please check the following key: 1. Click the "Start" button, type "regedit" (without quotation marks) in the "Search" bar, right click on the "regedit.exe" found in the list and then click "Run as administrator". 2. Navigate to the following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\wbengine 3. Right click the wbengine entry on the left pane, choose "Export", select "Desktop" in the "Save in" box and type "backup" (without quotation marks) in "File Name". Click "Save". Please Note: The backup file is on the Desktop and named "backup.reg". We can simply restore the registry by double-clicking the "backup.reg" file. 4. Right click to delete the wbengine key on the left pane. 5. Then download this file, rename it to wbengine.reg and double click on it to import to Registry. 6. Restart the computer to see if the issue can be resolved. Hope this helps. Regards, Linda

Hi firefighter1956,We have seen users running System Mechanic 9 reporting this error. Can you confirm if this is the case with you? If so, this is the fix the users recommend.RunSafetyNet in the Home screen and undo the entry related to updated registry settings. Now reboot to restore previous settings.Let me know if this works for you. Thanks,Sneha[MSFT]
