"Try following steps:1.Input Services.msc in Start --- Search to start Services box. Check if Windows Backup service is Started and set as "Manual". If not, change it to Manual and click Start to start it. You can stop and then restart it, reboot to see the result.2. If issue still exists, find this key:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\wbengineExport it to Desktop as an REG file (as a backup) and delete the key. Then download this file, rename it to wbengine.reg and double click on it to import to Registry. Then restart the computer to see the result." I have attemptedShawn Shan's fix but it did not work for this problem. I do not think it's a hardware probem.Renee

Hi Renee, Sounds like that you have submitted a thread before and have tried some troubleshooting with Shawn Shan. Can you please let me know the link? If so, it is recommended you continue working on the previous thread to avoid any confusion. In addition, it is suggested doing a testto check ifyou can backup some of your files and folders (instead of a System Image) to the DVD to ensure the backup worksproperly. If the backup can be done successfully, we can conclude that the root cause of the issue should be the DVD. It might do not have so that good quality to make system image.

OK, lets isolate if the issue is caused by the DVD you used. Although backup System Image to DVD should technically work just fine, it invariably increases the number of things that could go wrong with the backup process due to its bigger capacity. I wonder if you use DVD +R/-R or dual-layer to do the backup. At this point, what I can advise is to try a single-layer DVD +R\-R as well as a dual layer DVD +R\-R to make sure the issue. If the issue remains, I want to know if you have installed any CD/DVD-burning software, please temporarily remove them from "Control Panel"-> "Programs and Features". After that, please try to backup your files by using built-in backup function to check if the backup can be performed successfully instead of using Copy and Paste files to the DVD. If the issue persists, please follow the steps below to modify the registry. Modify the Registry==================== 1. Click the Start Button, type regedit in the "Start Search" text box and then press ENTER.2. Navigate to the following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} 3. Right click the {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} entry, choose "Export", select Desktop in the Save in box and type backup in File Name. Click Save. Please Note: The backup file is on the Desktop and named backup.reg. We can simply restore the registry by double-clicking the backup.reg file. 4. Highlight this key ({4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}), on the right pane, and then check if Upperfilters and Lowerfilters value are present. If so, please right click on the values and select "Delete" to remove them. 5. Restart the computer If the issue persists, pleasenavigate to C:\Windows\Logs\WindowsBackup andupload the all the backuplogsto SkyDrive and provide us the link for analyzing.
