Backup and Restore
I carried out a full Backup (files in libraries and personal folders for all users and system image) to an external USB hard drive. The backup was reported to be successful and all indications are that it was (size and files in the hard disk etc.). However, in "View Reliability History" the Reliability Monitor reports there are two Critical Events that Windows Backup stopped working, at about the time I started the the Backup. The Monitor has a link to "Check for a solution" but no solution is provided. I am reluctant to do a full Restore to see which of the conflicting reports are true as I have Win 7 working well now and don't want to put it at risk! No other Backup software is enabled on my computer (Norton 360 Backup is disabled). The Maxtor is installed with only the Microsoft supplied driver Question is, does anyone else have this issue and know which of the reports are true? Hello GT,If I'm understanding your problem correctly you recieved a critical error message twice saying the same thing at around the time of the backup? Or you got 2 seperate conflicting critical alerts? In either case if the backup completed successfully then there probably isn't a problem, backup may have stalled in its initial run but then ran fine after sorting itself out. Something of that nature could lead to a critical warning but if you question the backup's integrity then i would do another and see if those same error messages return.
