BitLocker TPM's and 3G Vodafone broadband data cards
Firstly, this post will not address the issue of the Vodafone software knocking out Vista's wirelenss network management as this is addressed under various posts within the 3G forum. This postis regarding the use of 3G data cards under Vista Ultimate following the Bitlocking of a laptops hard disk drive. Normally when using a laptop under Vista Ultimate one can insert the Vodafone 3G data card and the drivers are detected and you can then connect to the Vodafone Broadband service. However, if you bitlock the same machine and store the key on a USB stick for maximum security following the boot of the machine Windows Vista crashes with the error 0000000x50 which I understand is a generic software error and also produces the error of Windows is shutting down to protect your system. The card is a Huarwei 360 3G data card branded under the Vodafone banner. This does not occur unless the machine has been bitlocked and the TPM is active, has anyone else come accross this as I need to use both the Bitlock software and a broadband dial up solution for the work that I do? Vodafone have been contacted about this but are unable to answer the query and the latest drivers have been downloaded from the manufacturers web site as it is reasonably simple to configure the dial connections for the Vodafone service without using the Vodafone software.
