I've tried this on 2 Win 7 64bit ultimate PCs. Trying to encrypt a 32GB USB stick freezes during initial encryption .. always. Then i have to move the USB device to another PC to get rid of BotLocker after a long fight to get it to stop encrypting. What happens is that it starts encrypting then after a while it pauses at anything between 1.2 % up to 27.5% When clicking Resume button.... nothing happens and it goes back into pause mode after around 10 minutes. I've tried this with 2 32GB USB sticks. Both same type, Corsair, mini type USB. I've run the bitlocker on smaller devices, up to 4GB without any problems. And i've tried to let the USB stick sit in the USB port for more than 15 hours even it stopped and i pressed Resume button..... it still at same place when i return to the PC. Has anyone else experienced this? And/or is there a fix for this??

Hi, If this issue occurred on two Windows 7 computers, I suspect this is not related to Windows 7. I doubt this USB type stick may not compatible with Windows 7. To verify this, you could test this issue on another Windows 7 computer. Hi. Thanks for your answer. I thought a memory stick was a memory stick was a memory stick. But obviously there is difference to the interface then. If the memory stick is not compatible with Bitlocker then there should be some kind of warning of message telling you about it. But ok, lesson learnt :) Thanks again Balulang

Hi Alex, I have a Compaq laptop with Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit and am trying to bitlocker (BDE) my system drive (C:). With no TPM chip, I am using a USB memory stick to store the key. I too am finding that the encryption keeps pausing 15-20 seconds after being restarted. I have to say my confidence in Bitlocker is being severely tested. I am now restarting bitlocker (via the manage-bde command line) several times a minute, but at this rate (4% encrypted but not changed from that for some time) it could take days!
