Blank Backup and Restore page
I have a system that is showing a blank display of the Backup and Restore program when the external Hard Drive is connected. I have ran SFC /Scannow with elevated privlidges, both with the external device connected and without. I receive the warning that Windows repaired most files but was unable to repair some files. I have ran disk check to fix any errors. I can include the cbs.log if need be as well. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Did you look, yourself, in the CBS.log file for what files could not be repaired? Perhaps that could give you a clue what's gone wrong. -Noel

I checked the log and didn't mention names of files specifically. Here are some of the failures form the log: Failed call to CryptCATAdminAddCatalog. the log file says you have issues with the SoftwareDistribution folder which can be fixed with this FixIt: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058 create the txt file shown under [1] and look which files can't be restored. You can try to extract the files from the DVD [2] and override the damaged files. best regards André [1] http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833 [2] http://blog.nirsoft.net/2009/09/17/how-to-extract-missing-system-files-from-the-dvd-of-windows-7vista/"A programmer is just a tool which converts caffeine into code" Want to install RSAT on Windows 7 Sp1? For the Failed call to CryptCATAdminAddCatalog. [HRESULT = 0x8e5e03fa - JET_errReadVerifyFailure] entry give this a shot, Divegeeky - Click the Start orb, type cmd in the Search programs and files field, under Programs, right click cmd.exe, and then click Run as administrator. Agree to the UAC prompt. At the command prompt, type the following commands, and then press ENTER after each one. Please include the spaces as the commands must be typed exactly as they are laid out. You can right click after the Prompt and copy & paste them in, too : net stop cryptsvc ren %systemroot%\system32\catroot2\edb.log *.tst net start cryptsvc exit MowGreen Windows Expert IT Pro - Consumer Security *-343-* FDNY NEVER FORGOTTEN
