Blue Screen, likely USB error
Hi, I posted another thread earlier but can't find it to add link to the dump files on skydrive. Here's the story again, I purchased the laptop in March. First blue screen happened while I was running Returnil anti-virus deep scan. Happened again after I updated the same program. Yesterday it happened while I was running a usb port mouse and happened today twice, both times with something plugged into my usb port. Here is the dump files http://cid-1cd117955988b316.office.live.com/self.aspx/.Documents

Please update or remove this driver: rvsmonf.sys Image path: \SystemRoot\system32\DRIVERS\rvsmonf.sys Image name: rvsmonf.sys Timestamp: Tue Aug 10 12:41:42 2010 Which programs installs this driver?"A programmer is just a tool which converts caffeine into code" CLIP- Stellvertreter http://www.winvistaside.de/

Also, two of the errors (KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED) showed that the AvastSvc.exe was the process that crashed. There may a conflict between Avast and Returnil so you may want to uninstall Avast and see if the BSODs resolve. Also, you have the sptd.sys driver installed. This driver has been known to cause BSODs in certain setups. I would suggest to uninstall the application that installed the sptd.sys driver, possibly that is Daemon Tools. Then uninstall the sptd.sys - see "How can I remove SPTD driver on 64-bit OS?" in the following link: http://www.duplexsecure.com/en/faq

Great, thank you guys, I removed the software that uses rvsmonf.sys, it was Returnil and am only running Avast now. I also removed the SPTD drive just for safety.

Hello all, I apologize for if this thread is old, but wanted to update everyone who ran into an issue when using RSS and Avast at the same time. The problem can be easily rectified by order of installation. This also may effect those using RSS, Avast, and Online Armour at the same time as detailed in the following post at the official Returnil Support forums over at Wilders Security: http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=285630 The gist of the report and our recommendation is to: 1. Uninstall Avira and/or OA 2. Install RSS 2011 and alow the full installation process to complete with the required restart and initial Quick Scan from the Virus Guard component 3. Reinstall Avira and/or OA From reports so far, this appears to be working well and should resolve any compatibility issues for those experiencing them. If your experience is different than the user reporting in the referenced thread, please let us know by sending a report to support (dash) tech (at) returnil (dot) com with the following logs: RVS 2010: * "C:\Windows\rvs3.log" * "C:\Windows\rvs3-inst.log" RSS 2011: The rvs3.log and rvs3.inst.log files in the following folder: "C:\Documents and Settings\all users\application data\returnil\rvs3\log" All versions: * MSINFO32 report** **Click START > RUN > Type MSINFO32. On the System Information screen click FILE > Export and then save the file where you can find it to attach to your reply. In adtition to the logs above, also include the following if available: 1. C:\Windows\MINIDUMP: look for the file or files with the same date and time as the critical stop (BSOD) incident 2. C:\Windows\MEMORY.DMP: If this file exists, it may be too large to send via e-mail attachment. If this is valid in your situation, please let us know in your initial report using the address posted above and we will provide you with credentials to upload the file to our servers directly via FTP. With Kind Regards Michael Returnil Support
