Bluetooth not pairing every reboot

Hey all I am hoping someone has an easy fix for my issue here. I can pair my android cell phone to the pc via win 8 generic bluetooth drivers and it works after confirming the pair code on both my cell phone and my pc.

Problem is that once I reboot I can not connect to the cell phone and have to remove the device from the list and discover it again, pair with it again and then it works.

Am I missing a setting in win 8 that keeps the settings for my bluetooth devices and connects to it once it sees it again?

Also, is there any better drivers/ software to use other than the generic bluetooth drivers that win 8 uses?

I have an intel 7260 HMW mini pcie wireless n card with bluetooth 4.0.

I have noticed that disabling the option to automatically power off Bluetooth device when not in use fixes most Bluetooth issues.

You will have to go into device manager -> Bluetooth -> device in question and uncheck
'Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power'

There appears to be a power management bug in Windows 8 (also some installations of Windows 7, I am told)

I hope this helps.

Hi StealthRTT,

Please make sure the Bluetooth Support Service is running:

  1. Press Windows + R, type services.msc in search box, and then press Enter.
  2. In the right pane of the Services snap-in, expand the Bluetooth Support Service.
  3. Double-click this service, click Stop in the Service status section, and select Automatic in the Startup type section.
  4.  Click Apply.
  5. Click Start in the Services status section
  6. Click Apply and OK.
  7. Restart your computer.

Did that. Doesn't seem to have made a difference.
