Boot up gives blank screen with desktop background no icons, toolbars or mouse cursor
I just installed Win 7 64 bit upgrade from fresh Vista 32 bit install so it was a clean install. Everything worked fine. Once I got the installation finalized I began to get updates and install drivers for things like Video, no on board video so I got the Nvidia most current driver installation and ran that. I ran a few other installs required for motherboard drivers, sound and standard items like NIC support, etc... I am not sure at what point this happened but I was on one machine while this one was updating and noticed the reboot had resulted in what looked like a hang. Hard drive activity continued. No cursor, no interaction, but no error indications aside from missing graphics interface. I left it after another reboot and took a break. When I returned it was in sleep mode. I tapped a key and it woke to a normal screen and all seemed to work. The next reboot gave me the same symptoms so I hit the sleep button on my keyboard and woke it after that had processed. Again it worked. This has happened numerous times and no improvement. I don't know really where to look since it is working fine except for that problem. I have updated to SP1 and all other updates. I am currently running a scan for viruses or malware. I'm confident that will return no errors. I believe this could have been immediately after the video drivers installation but can't be 100% sure. Any suggestions at where to look, what to run, how to correct this are welcome and greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance!

Hi, I suggest trying last good known configuration or performing a System Restore from WinRE to check if the issue can be resolved. If so, please install all available drivers or updates one by one to narrow down the root cause. If the issue persists, please boot in Safe Mode to check the result. If the issue doesn't occur in Safe Mode, I suggest uninstalling all 3rd party software, downloading all device drivers from manufacture's website manually. After that, delete the old one and install the new one.
