Have a look in the System and Application logs in Event Viewer for Errors and Warnings and post copies here. Don't post any from than more than 48 hours ago. You can access Event Viewer by selecting Start, Control Panel, Administrative Tools, and Event Viewer. When researching the meaning of the error, information regarding Event ID, Source and Description are important. A tip for posting copies of Error Reports! Run Event Viewer and double click on the error you want to copy. You will see a button resembling two pages. Click the button and close Event Viewer. This places a copy of the report into your Clipboard. Paste into the body your message. Make sure that this is the first paste after exiting from Event Viewer. Are any devices malfunctioning? Select Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, System Information. Open Components under System Summary and click on Problem Devices. Is anything listed there? Are there any yellow question marks in Device Manager? Right click on the My Computer icon on your Desktop and select Properties, Hardware, and Device Manager. If yes what is the Device Error code? To see Hidden Devices (Non Plug and Play Drivers) you need to select View, Show Hidden Devices. It is necessary to do this every time you open Device Manager if you need to see them. A further complication can be Ghosted Devices –installed but not connected!http://www.lockergnome.com/windows/2005/04/29/display-hidden-devices-in-device-manager-xp/Hope this helps, Gerry Cornell

Your computer's Log-in process takes like 30 seconds, oh, and the LOGO boot takes (how long?) 2.3 seconds!?!Kevin, all I can say, is, "Sport! You're certainly a man .....with absolutely no Patience!" Like your computer HAS to do WHAT you want, before YOU even 'think' of getting it to do anything!!"Your computer is a 'Electronic device'! It needs TIME, to work, but is severely limited! By what is inside it! Of 'how' YOU set it up?What's worse.......you call this a 'problem' ?!!!You are the 'problem' here. With an impossible 'can't wait!' attitude.Take a deep breathe, relax, sit back and wait. For your computer to work, by itself.

Does this link ring any bells? http://snipurl.com/224oia [www_google_co_uk] Your computer specificationhttp://snipurl.com/224r5u [h10025_www1_hp_com] I would try matching the specification with what appears in Device Manager. What headings do these devices come under? Are there any entries is Autoruns referring to a missing file? If so what are the files missing? To identify what loads when you boot use Autoruns (freeware from Microsoft).http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysinternals/ProcessesAndThreads/Autoruns.mspx With Autoruns you can uncheck an item, which disables it from starting, or you can right click an item and then delete it. If you uncheck you can recheck to re-enable the item. It is a much safer approach than editing the Registry and better than using msconfig. Another useful feature of the programme is that you can right click an item and select Search Online to get information about the item selected. Hope this helps, Gerry Cornell
