Browser Jump List items bypassing firewall rules
I recently tried to block social networking pages in the office and have noticed that if an employee has been on one of these sites at home and saves that webpage visit and pins it to the jump list when they arrive back in the office it bypasses the firewall rule, does anyone know how windows 7 saves the items in jump lists? i.e is it saved as an IP address?

Hi, First, I would like to know how you blocked the block social networking pages via firewall? Since some websites may have different IP address, I suggest you need to disable them all. The user may resolve another website IP address at home or use proxy to access this website, so this issue should not related to jump list. More reference about Jump list Jump Lists http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/products/features/jump-lists Windows Taskbar: Frequently Asked Questions http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd799239(v=WS.10).aspx Group Policy Settings for Start Menu and Taskbar: Do not allow pinning items in Jump Lists: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee617162(v=WS.10).aspx Furthermore, you can refer to the following link to block the website via GPO http://www.grouppolicy.biz/2010/07/how-to-use-group-policy-to-allow-or-block-urls/ Hope it helps.
