Here is the sequence: * Start with taskbar "locked"* not auto-hide* not use small icons* taskbar location left of screen* taskbar buttons 'Always combine, hide labels'* use desktop preview Change Taskbar buttons dropdown to 'Never combine' and click Apply- taskbar grows horizontally to accommodate labels Change Taskbar buttons dropdown to 'Always combine, hide labels' and click Apply- taskbar labels disappear but taskbar stays too wide - BUG Only cure is to unlock the taskbar and manually resize to the minimum again.
