Hi Azizeqab,It is my understanding that the final generally available version of Windows 7 will not be downloadable. If you paid someone to download it you will probably be disappointed. Regards from the Valley of the Sun.

piepaw - When I went through the preorder process, I was given three options -1.) download only2.) download + media3.) media onlyAt any rate... The whole issue is kinda moot given it's already July 12th and the deal ended yesterday.@ Azizeqab -I have a feeling that wouldn't work out too well. Even if you weren't downloading it, there's the matter of Microsoft (or the company they're using to process your credit card info) checking the BILLING address on the card. And if that address isn't in the US - I think it would have likely been kicked back. Not that it matters now.

FYI - I actually telephone the "Micrsoft Store" and they told me that the download version was not an "ISO" file - meaning you can't take the download and burn a DVD of it for future use the way we can with the pre-lease downloads.....A deal breaker for me./jp.s. I want bitlocker so I will have to by the full version anyway..

piepaw - You probably wouldn't have known unless you actually went through the process of buying it. I certainly wouldn't have been expecting it.

Jim - Hmm.. Really? That makesno sense whatsoever.. I have a feeling the folks at the Microsoft Store weren't up to speed on what they were going to do. I don't see how it can be anything else. Especially if you were installing the upgrade on a box with XP on it where a clean install was mandatory. You start the upgrade process from within XP and it reboots - whoops.. The format just whacked your install files because they were on the one and only partition... No.. That would be ludicrous. And what happens when you need to reinstall? There's no value in it if you can't make a full and complete back up of your purchase.
