CAN I DELETE NET FRAMEWORK?
I have 3% memory left, and I cannot get more memory at this time. For now, I would like to remove some installed programs/apps, etc. I have already safely cleaned out what I do know (i-tunes, games, etc), but I do not recognize a lot of the items on the list and will not uninstall unless I know for sure it is safe to do so. Can I remove ANY of the net framweork updates?1 person got this answerI do too

Oops! You are right, I meant "Disk Space..." I deleted temp files the other day. i do have a TON of pictures (from 2007 through now). I will try & save them to a CD. It makes me nervous to delete them, but I guess if I put the CD somewhere safe I will be cool... Remember when we put pictures in a photo album? ha ha... I just gave away my age! THANK YOU for the reply, I will try a couple other suggestions of yours as well.:)

Caligirl, you can do more. To free up more hard-drive space. What other 'private stuff' you have in your computer, that can be also burnt to a CD or DVD? You could also check out.....the daily removal, of the 'cookies' your computer amasses/collects every time you use the Internet. How to do this? With XP, you go to the Control Panel, then, Device Manager, find the "Internet Options" icon (this how how my computer is set up, by the way!).....RIGHT-Click on Icon. It will show a 'pop-up window'....with 2 choices. Open, or Create Short-cut. Select 'Create Short-cut'. It will say can not place short-cut here, do you want it on the Desk-top? You say YES. The short-cut is on your Desk-top. Close everything down, go to the Short-cut.Ok, here's where you can set everything up....to make Life a lot easier for yourself.First of all, I hope you are using IE 8, as you do need it for this. Download/install if you haven't. You will have to close the Internet Options....just for a while, to do it, so, don't worry. With IE 8 now installed you don't have to OPEN it, to work on the Internet Options program.Reopen Internet Options. On the "General" page, half-way down, there will be this line, with a box, "Delete browsing history on Exit".Tick it!In the same area, you will see the button "Settings", now, click on it.You should now be on the "Temporary Internet Files and History Settings" page.Look half-way, again, you will see........."Disk space to use, etc,,,," (8-1024MB) Further to your Right, a window will be or should be showing this amount also. If not, you can type it in, no harm done, you've just RESET the space to the Max level is all.OK,now, lower down, there 3 more buttons. The one you're after, is, "View Files", click it, naturally. This next page, with XP, you have to do this,.......Select "Edit". (Top Left corner)Select "Select All", from the 'drop-down' window that appears. (Did it 'highlight' everything? It is meant to!)Repeat the 'select Edit' task. Now, look down that same 'drop-down' window. For the DELETE option. Click on it.You will get a window, now asking you 'if you really want to Delete/remove thes selected cookies'? Of course, you do, so, do it.What do you know!?! Given time, they do disappear! But, IF you have never done this before, you may have to REPEAT process, unitl all are definitely deleted. When there no more 'cookies' to delete, you have successfully cleaned your computer of......what's REALLY been slowing your computer down, well done! This is the most interesting part...........IF you make a REGULAR HABIT of doing this, every time you are FINISHED with the Internet, 2 things will happen. 1.. You will frealize that your computer may be working smoother/faster! GREAT! As it should! 2...In developing this 'habit', it won't be too long before you will also realize that.......it is INDEED a very habit to get into that you will hardly know you're doing it!OK, one last little trick...to show you.Go back to that Page, with that "Delete History" I asked you to tick.....,but, this time, I want you to CLICK the actual 'DELETE' button itself. this threw up another window, didn't it?Now, regardless of everything you DO see there, the ONLY box I want you to 'UNTICK", that's right, untick!......is the VERY TOP one! Nothing else! (What will this do? This is virtually your insurance...of keeping things to a MINIMUM, with your 'cookies'/History.)With your nice new habit, you may find that, now, when you do a manual check...to remove/delete those 'cookies'....that they may be already gone! KEEP using this habit, as tis 'automatic removal' of those 'cookies' is more of a 'hit-n-miss' operation. At least, that's how it keeps working for me.And, that's everything in a nut-shell, you will be rarely bothered.....by a slowing computer, due to the overload of 'cookies'. Now that you do know 'how' to remove/delete them properly.

Hi,You can try download CCleaner: http://download.cnet.com/ccleaner/ It will help you clean your system. You can also try switching off System restore and disable hibernation (Hibernate mode writes an image of what you're currently working on to a special file on your hard drive, and then shuts your computer almost completely off). To disable Hibernation: Click Start -> Control Panel -> Performance and Maintenance -> click Power Options.Hope this helps.
