CSC and mandatory profiles
We created a share on a w2k8 R2 fileserver, and configured the folder redirection GPO. Also enabled offline caching on the share. For the Windows 7 clients we use mandatory profiles. We also use a tool"Res Workspace Manager" to capture usersettings. Because of the mandatory profile(i think), CSC is not working as it should. It does synch, no errors, but when i go offline, i don't see the testfiles i create on my desktop. If i go "online", and start mobsync, i see that it didn't saved the last time a synch occured, and want to start the first sync again.. After a few minutes the sync does occur, but when going offline i can see my files I think because of the mandatory profiles that i have to capture some registry setting to make offline caching work.. Would appreciate some feedback. Thanx

In theory you should be able to redirect the documents on your desktop, however other settings will be reverted due to the mandatory profile. I recommend you test all your settings without the mandatory profile first, there can be several places where this can go wrong and the mandatory profile could be a red herring. If that is all working successfully post back and let us know.

Folder redirection works fine with mandatory profile. The problem is with offline caching I've tested everything without a mandatory profile. Created/deleted files in on - and offline state, rebooted numerous times, and it works. The mandatory profile was created before i enabled the folder redirection GPO, or any other GPO, and before i enabled offline caching on the share. Like i said, when i use the mandatory profile, and i logon, wait for a few minutes, the offline sync does occur, and you can see the time that it occured. But when i logoff and logon again, Sync Center doesn't save the the time the last sync took place, or the sync itself.. Thanx

Hi, It's a bit strange. Generally the Mandatory profile has a separated sync mechanism than the Offline File. Per my understanding, the Offline File Cache on the client side straightly synchronizes the marked network folders with the File Server. And it's hard to explain why it is related to the Mandatory Profile. Could you please test renaming a new normal profile to Mandatory, and then check if the issue can be reproduced? (change the "NTUSER.DAT" under a normal user profile folder to "NTUSER.MAN") Best Regards, Steven XiaoPlease remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. The way we created a mandatory profile: Install Win7 in a Vmware VM. Placed the VM in a Active Directory OU where no policy's are applied. Installed all Windows Update patches, rebooted, and then copied the default user profile, giving everybody permission.. Renamed .dat to .man...Done.. For this test, i created a new profile, but still same issue. I tested it as local profile. No problema. Offline everything is available.. I then renamed the profile i'm testing with to .Man, and everthing still works.. So i think somehow, somewhere offline sync settings are saved. Now i went back to my original .MAN profile Like i said in my first post, the folder sync timestamp in Mobsync isn't saved. I found the registy key that i need to capture to save the time stamp.. http://members.quicknet.nl/biga/Windows7/RegSettings3.jpg That works. When i log on(online) i can see when the last sync occured.. There are more keys that i need... http://members.quicknet.nl/biga/Windows7/Regsettings.jpg So i captured the whole classes key for testing, but still i can't see the files in offline mode... I think i'm on the right track. In the meantime i opened a case with MS. Send them some logfile..I'm waiting on their feedback.. Keep you posted..

Hi, Thanks for your effort in testing the details of the scenario. However, the links of the screenshots you provided require a credential to authenticate. Could you please paste it in texts? In addition, would you please let me know the Service Request ID so that we also can help you verify if there is Technical Engineer took it in time. Sorry about the links. I've changed them. No credentials required now... Service Request ID 112041332562647. I already uploaded some logfiles, but that was 2 days ago. Still no feedback.. Thanks..
