Can't View Network drive

I have a NAS that our work used for shared files. Just out of the blue I noticed I could no longer browse the directory going to the ip address of the NAS. I can ping the device and I can access the web Administration GUI of the device but no matter what I do I can't access it by browsing it with windows explorer. To throw another wrench in to that I have Shortcuts on my HD going to files ON that Network drive and I can open them. SO I KNOW that I have a network connection to the device.

All other computers on the network doesn't seem to have this problem so it is restricted to my computer.

any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I have Windows 8 Pro 64bit and it has always worked before. I can't seem to remember any changes that I made that would have resulted on this.

Hi,

Try to use nslookup hostname to check if DNS can resolve the Ipaddress.

Furthermore, try to register DNS via command:

ipconfig /flushdns

ipconfig /registerdns

If the issue persists, try to temporary disable firewall for test. Or you can perform a system restore because it works before.

ok. it did resolve the host name with IP address. but I am a bit confused why we would need to do that if I am trying to access it with the IP address. To my understanding I wouldn't need the DNS if I am using the direct IP.

just trying to understand your thought process...

I did what you suggested and it still doesn't work. I wanted to stay clear of the system restore until I know for sure I couldn't make it work..
