Can't access a folder in in XP that has been added to Win7 Library
Hi, I have Win7 loaded on a 2nd partition on my XP laptop.I added the "My Photos" folder fromthe XP My Documents folder to the Win7 Pictures library. The photos are are accesable from Win7 OK - but I can't access "My Photos" in XP - I get "you are notauthorised to access this folder"error message. I have ensure both user names and passwords match for both OS's - but still can't get in via XP - Any Idea? Thanks,Neil

The fact that the username and passwords are the same only apply in network shares where basic authentication applies. With the files being on the same HDD the user SID will need to have access to the folder. When in windows 7 navigate to the folder you want to access and right click and select properties. Then select the security tab and click advanced. Under the Owner tab click edit and select your username and tick "apply to all child folders and files". Let that run through and take ownership of the folder. You should then be able to set the permissions on the folder to give the windows 7 user access to the folder.
