Can't connect to server - authentication Fail - Windows 7 Home Premium
Hi,I'm in Australia working with a UK company so I need to log into their server remotely to access files etc. I set up a VPN to their network over there which works great it connects and I can see it in the Network and sharing centre. Now I just need to map a network dive so that I can access the folders-So right click > map network drive > \\10.0.0.1\edinburgh (log in using different credentials) - it then asks for a username and password - I use my login for their server and it keeps rejecting my password. It also adds a domain that is my computer name to the front of my user name (BENJI\belle) (yes, computer is called benji). If I cancel out of the login it will let me see some of the items on the drive but not anything I need.I have tried loging onto the server using a mac and windows 2000 and it will log on using both of those so I know it is not any of the IP settings or a password issue. I can fairly much narrow it down to an authentication issue when I map the drive - and I think it is because it adds the computer name as a domian.Any ideas? I am fairly technical but Networking is not my field. I have tried everything I can think of - I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium.:)I really need to get on this network.Belle

If the VPN host machine is a Windows 2003 Server or below then you may need to modify the registry of your Windows 7 machine - see here:http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/itprovistanetworking/thread/8e18df52-eaf0-4758-a1c1-87057d9f96e9_________________________If this response resolves your problem, please click "Propose as answer" so that the thread can be closed.
