Can't connect windows xp to wireless internet! Need Help!
I have been trying to connect my old toshiba laptop that uses 2002 windows xp to a wi-fi network we have set up at home. The laptop has a built in wireless adapter that you can shut off or turn on, and I made sure to have it on. It never detects any wireless networks though, and when I open network connections all it has is broadband connections, dial-up, and LAN, but absolutely nothing even mentions wireless! Please please help me! If you have any questions about it that will help you give advice, please ask!Thanks!-Santiago1 person needs an answerI do too

2002 windows xp Home Premium. Also, i looked at the system devices under network connection devices, where all the wireless devices it has should be listed, and the only one it had was a device for ethernet! It's like it doesnt even realize it has a wireless adapter built in, or maybe it it just broke down from old age.

To find out, right click on My Computer and select Properties. Did you look at the link in my previous post? What's shown in Device Manager?

Service pack 2. I read through the link, but the part where it just doesnt work is here.Take a look at Windows Device Manger and make sure that the wireless card is listed there. Example, http://www.ezlan.net/example/dm_ok.jpgThe wireless card is not listed there at all! It explains what to do if it appears but has the yellow exclamation mark, but mine isn't there at all. Im going to try getting a wireless adapter to see if it works. Cross your fingers!
