Can't copy files to server folder
I'm running Windows 7 Enterprise and need to copy the contents of a CD to one of our W2003 servers. I have a shared folder on the server so I start copying files from the CD, to this folder. Part way through the copy it says "You need permission to perform this action". ??? I HAVE permission. I'm in the middle of copying files to it. I logged on to the server. My username has full control permissions over the shared folder in question on the share and the file system. I can create new files in the share, create new folders and I've tried copying the disc to my desktop first and then to the share and I keep getting the same error. I can copy any file off my desktop to this share except the files that came from the disc. Why would I get this error part way though the copy process? Thanks! Edit: I managed to copy all files except "Autorun.inf". Does Windows havd some restriction about copying this file?

This sort of error message is common when the file you want to delete, modify, or move is in use (locked), such as an open executable or dll. Take a look at using Process Explorer from Sysinternals to see if the file(s) that aren't being copied over, like the autorun.inf, are in use. If so you can identify and unlock them and proceed with the copy. "Does Windows havd some restriction about copying this file?" No. If it's in use (locked) it could be an issue though. Worse case you could try copying the CD locally to a logical drive on the Win7 Ent system and then from there copy it over to the share.

Hi, 1. Please test other CDs to see if the same issue occurs. 2. Manually insert the CD to Windows Server 2003 machine and copy to Windows Server 2003 to see if the issue occurs.
