I have tried endlessly to use the 'NET USE' syntax to get a Windows XP Home system to keep & hold a mapped network drive share on a Windows 7 Pro 64 bit system and nothing I have tried or found on ANY blog has worked. I can map the network drive by going throught the normal right click on 'My Computer' and then provide a drive letter designation with the proper path and have been very successful using the 'Connect using a different user name' feature. However, even with the box checked to reconnect at logon the function is WORTHLESS!!!! I have made a multitude of attempts to use the Net Use syntax to create a batch file to overcome this gross non-functional application. I would really appreciate someone who has actually got this problem solved and working. I have looked at all of the Windows files on the XP machine, searched the registry as to a possible switch that could make the necessary changes and have made all of the necessary changes on the Windows 7 system to accept the mapped network share. HiSince you have a Network with different OS' I hope that Win 7 is configured to Run on asWork Network.If evry thing is correctly configured it can be an issue of how your Router keeps Network info. Using Staic DHCP or Static IPs on the computers might help to resolve the problem.Just in case you need to reconfigure your Network.---------------Win7 when configured on peer-to-peer Network has three types of Sharing configurations.HomeGroup Network = Works only between Win 7 computers. This type of configuration makes it very easy to Entry Level Users to start Network sharing. Work Network = Basically similar to the previous methods of sharing that let you control what, how, and to whom folders would be shared with. Public Sharing = Public Network (like Internet cafe) to reduce security risks.
