Can't logon to networked machine
Hello, I have one Windows 7 Pro 32-bit machine, one Windows 7 Pro 64-bit machine, and one Windows XP Pro 32-bit machine, all connected via a LAN. All machines have all the latest updates and each machine sees itself as well as the other two on the network. I am able to connect to the XP machine from either of the Win7 machines via both the network and mapped drives, but I cannot get either of the Win7 machines to accept the UserID/Password when I try to logon to them from either the WinXP machine or the other Win7 machine. I'm using the same UserID/Password I use when I logon to the machines directly. The strange thing is that at one time I was able to map a Win7 32-bit drive onto the Win7 64-bit machine and logon to that machine. It wouldn't accept the UserID/Password initially but I just kept reentering it until it did work. From then on it accepted it every time until now, jsut after I moved the machines into a different room and plugged the ethernet cables into different router inputs. However, I don't get any network errors or otherwise flakey operation and everything seems as solid as a rock on all three computers. I have specified 128-bit encryption on both Win7 machines, and the Workgroup as well as the HomeNetwork names are the same. Any ideas/suggestions? Thanks, Ray

Hi, Could you see all machines are in a same workgroup? When you logon to the other computer, what’s message let you know you failed? You could disable the firewall and check the result. Regarding how to access computer via network, I suggest you can refer to : http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7itpronetworking/thread/033c418b-1096-4df7-bfad-fd3d431f3cd5 Also, check if there is any Local Security Policy is set. Hope it helps. Regards, Alex ZhaoPlease remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. Hi Alex, Yes, from any of the 3 machines I can see the other two machines. I get to the point of it asking for the user and password, but only the WinXP machine will accept the user ID and password. The two Win 7 machines reject them. The odd thing is that at one time it all worked properly, but now it doesn't and I don't know what changed. Thanks, Ray
