Can't move folders in Windows 7, permissions issues?
Also, no one else has any problem moving the exact same files.

I am unable to move folders in windows explorer. It tells me that a file is in use. Using un-lock programs have resulted in msgs indicating that there are no applications in use for that folder. I appear to not have full Admin permissions tho this is a brand new computer that has only had Windows 7 installed on it (with no other user accounts ever created)-- this problem has existed since we got the computer and software. I have searched for answers online, but those with similar problems have yet to have found a solution that is applicable to my situation. Also, I've noted that in cmd prmt when attempting to turn off hibernation it tells me that I don't have permission. Which of course made me suspicious that perhaps my folder moving problem was perhaps a permissions issue... Also: right clicking on the folder and changing the properties to give full control to the owner does absolutely nothing. being unable to move folders only happens if it's the last folder to have been opened. If I open a different file in another folder the previous folder will be "released." Typically I only of .dox/doc, .pdf, or .jpg files in the folder. It seem to be some how connected to Office 07, perhaps? I am networked to other computers in the office, and many of these files are stored on a different computers HD which is operating XP. Again, however I have tried making my computer the owner of the folder, to no avail. Thanks.

Hi, Did this issue occur when you move a specific folder or all folders? It could be caused by system accessing thumbs.db files while you're trying to move folders, try to turn off Caching of Thumbnails in Hidden thumbs.db Files 1. Click the Start orb 2. Enter gpedit.msc in the search box and hit Enter. 3. Expand User Configuration - Administrative Templates - Windows Components. 4. Click on Windows Explorer. 5. Right-click the entry "Turn off the caching of thumbnails in hidden thumbs.db files" and choose Edit. 6. Enable the setting. If this issue persists, I suggest you create a new user to check what the result is: Create a user account Hope it helps.
