Can SP1 temp stuff be directed elsewhere
Using windows update can I direct the download update (for SP1 in this case) file to some other location? C: is low on space, enough for the update but not much more, and I don't want to clutter up C: with stuff like this anyway. And if the update file
unpacks to some temp update folder or install file can that temp location be redirected too, so that all the stuff that can be gotten rid of after the update is done is never on C: in the first place? My environment var for Temp is already set elsewhere but
I don't think windows uses that var for this kind of thing.

You can download the standalone installer yourself to any drive & folder you want from
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=c3202ce6-4056-4059-8a1b-3a9b77cdfdda
But, you will still be required to have a certain amount of disk space on your C: drive for it to run and install. I don't know if htere is any documentation telling you what the required free space is for SP1 to install. Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. download the Sp1 Installer from the Link Rick gave you and run it with /X:D:\Sp1 parameter. This extracts the Installer to D:\Sp1. Run the Installer from the folder D:\Sp1. But you still need Space on C because the data must be copied to the WinSxS folder."A programmer is just a tool which converts caffeine into code" CLIP- Stellvertreter http://www.winvistaside.de/
