Can Windows 7 System Image able to restore to a new HDD?
Hello.
I am unable to restore the "System Image" that i created before my harddisk failed.
In the beginning, i backup using Windows 7 System Image <C:\> to <D:\> (same harddisk, different partition).
Just weeks after, i noticed that my hardisk is failing, so i backup the whole directory <D:\WindowsImageBackup> to my external harddisk.
After i sent the laptop for replacement of harddisk, I copy that folder from my external harddisk to my laptop D drive.
I was able to use the option using Windows 7 System Disc
"Restore your computer using a system image that you created earlier --> Select a system Image --> I choose the backup that i created before --> Click Next --> Click Next (Under Re-image your computer) --> Click Finish
The error message shown.
The system image restore failed,

excluded by mistake (0x80042414)
What other options do i have now?
Thanks

1. Does BIOS recognize new disk?
2. It is better to show what you see than what is in the reference.
3. Recovery procedure should format new disk.

1. Yup. The laptop manufacturer replaced the harddisk and preload Windows inside
2. What reference are you implying?
3. However, inside got Asus hidden partition inside.
Thanks

1. OK
2. Reference I have given.
3. Yes this is an exception. I have not resolved this info from your letter. That could make a problem. Have you contected Asus support or/and community forum. Chances are that Asus have a proprietary recovery tool(s) and does not support the Microsoft way.
