Can not Access shared drives that I can from other windows 7 systems
when I try to share any resources on my local network (such as \\dns323) I get the error: "\\dns323 is not accessible. You might not have permmison... The account is not authorized to log in from this station".I have another almost identical system I loaded windows 7 on that can see all my local network resources (BTW, the internet does work). I just don't get it. I have no antivirus or external firewall s/w loaded. I've turned all firewalls off (both mine and external) and still, not good.Thoughts?Peter Kellner, MVP ASP.NET

Is password protected sharing turned on for any of the machines?

yes, just like all windows shares I've ever exposed. I assumed that was the only option (or at least I had hoped that). I'm reluctant to start messing with the other computers since they all share fine between each other, and my experience with shares, is that I can only make this worse by messing with the other machines. It seems like my current windows 7 computer is somehow not in the local workgroup, but I don't know how to fix that.Peter Kellner, MVP ASP.NET http://peterkellner.net

First you will need to make sure you are not joined to the homegroup. Go into network and sharing center and click choose homegroup and sharing options. If you have the option to leave the homegroup, click leave the homegroup. If you go into change advanced sharing settings, you may want to change the homegroup connections settings to use user accounts and passwords to connect to other computers. Hope this helps.
