Can not connect to the network printer
Desktop and Laptop running Vista. Router Netgear. I can accessed files, but not the printer. Have followed the Microsoft help to access printer. When I right click the printer properties that I want to share I notice that the folder is Xerox Phaser 6110MFP which is also shown on my laptop, but the Network Path reads \\CHRIS-PC\Xerox Phaser 6110MFP2, which is not shown on laptop. When I try to print from the laptop I get nothing. Is this because the network path with a 2 at the end is different, and can I feed the network path into my laptop manually? I hope someone can help because I have to keep pulling the printer cable out of the back of the desktop to put in the laptop.

Hi, Thank you for your post! I have a couple of suggestions: 1. Disable your firewall\antivirus software to check. 2. Reinstall the printer driver and input a correct path. 3. Make sure all the computers have the same network type. Meanwhile, please refer to the following aritical: Share a printer Troubleshoot network printer problems File and Printer Sharing in Windows Vista Regards,Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
