Cannot Edit Anything in Program Files
I have Windows 7 Home Premium, and I installed DOSBOX to play old games with. They come with these configuration files you need to manually edit, but it will not let me because it says I do not have access. I in fact purchased it with my money, installed it on the computer I bought, in my own house, and I live alone. So why will it not let me get access? I have tried to find out how to gain full admin access, but there are opinions stating how dangerous it is. It doesn't make sense to me.

Hi, What do you want to edit in Program Files? If you log on with an user account which is in Administrators Group, you may right click the program and run as administrator. Does the current user account belong to Administrators Group? Here are two articles about running applications as administrator can be referred to. Configure Applications to Always Run as an Administrator http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/ff431742.aspx Windows 7 - Run as Administrator http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/11841-run-administrator.html In the meantime, you may contact DOSBOX forum for assistance. http://vogons.zetafleet.com/index.php?c=7Ivan-Liu TechNet Community Support

Open an administrative command prompt (right-click, Run As Administrator), navigate to the folder in question. Then type notepad nnnn where nnnn is the file you want to edit.
