Cannot access files even after I took ownership
I followed the advice on here about changing ownership, and I took control of my shared files from my old hard drive which is installed as a slave drive now. However, I can access some of the files in here, there are still the most important files- pictures and documents, which are labeled in green. I have tried to take ownership of those folders and files, but the files and folders remain green and I cannot access them. When I try to change special permissions- it says I have full access- but it won't even let me uncheck the read only box on the picture or file...1 person needs an answerI do too

The files in green are encrypted. If you didn't back up your encryption keys or are on a domain and didn't a recovery agent, the files are lost forever. You can contact Elcomsoft to see if their program can help, but in all probability you encrypted the files without understanding how to do this safely. http://tinyurl.com/6l6xx - MS information about EFS (Encryption) http://www.elcomsoft.com/aefsdr.html - Encrypted files retrieval application http://www3.telus.net/dandemar/encrypt.htm - encryption info http://www.beginningtoseethelight.org/efsrecovery/ - more encryption info MS-MVP - Elephant Boy Computers - Don't Panic!
