Cannot backup files. It does not reconize I have a cd in drive. Tray will not open either. Use paper clip to open it.
Using windows xp Pro. Internet Explorer as browser. After I put the cd in the drive and start back-up, it says I don't have cd in drive.Also tried to open tray manually but will not open. I have a HP Compaq dc7100. Purchased 12/04. It shows on my invoice as an 8X DVD+R/RW Drive (CBT) ALL item 4513141 Manufactured part number DX151AV. If you think I need to purchase a new one,could you recommend it an give me the HP part number so I can order it. Thank you.

Sounds like you need a new CD Drive. Either take it to you local dealer or contact HP. If you want a part number, look at your invoice if not take the old CD drive out and look at that.TaurArian [MVP] 2005-2010 - Update Services
