HiI have two PC's on an ethernet network both with XP. They connect to the internet via a modem and a Netgear router. One PC cannot connect to the internet but can access the other PC on the network. The 2nd PC does have internet access. Both have Nortan 360 installed. I disabled the Norton firewall on PC1 and no change. Windows firewall is off.Internet tools LAN settings are correct. Reset IE8 and problem remains. IP address is OK.Great network connection at 1GB/s between both PC's. I have turned off both router and modem and even changed the port on the router. Still no internet access???? It was working OK yesterday but stopped working today. There is no malware on either PC and all Norton updates are downloaded automatically every day.1 person needs an answerI do too

Being that the two computers communicate well together and that one can access the internet indicates that your IP address and subnet are correct on both computers. Generally, three settings must be correct to connect to the internet 1) the IP address and Subnet mask, 2) Your Default Gateway IP Address, and 3) Your DNS server. To communicate on same subnet using Microsoft Networking only requires that the first is set correctly.Bring up a command prompt (Start -> Run -> "cmd") and enter the command: ipconfig /allon both your machines. Look at the results and make sure that the "Default Gateway" and "DNS Server" entries are the same on both machines. An incorrect Gateway will not allow you outside of your subnet. For most routers, this will be the same as your Computer's IP address with a ".1" or ".254" replacing the last number. An incorrect DNS Server will not allow you to connect using names... for example, "ping www.google.com" would not work whereas "ping 66.102.7.99" would.
