Cannot connect to Server 2008 standard using Remote Desktop Connection and Windows 7, XP connects and is fast!
After initial install of Windows 7, RDC connedted one time only. I have only the OS on the computer, a Gateway with Intel PD 930 Processor and a Intel 945G mainboard. My internet connection is via a DSL modem and Linksys 160 router. Two of my other computers use XP and connect to the remote server without any problems. I have the modem and router wide open for any kind of connection, no firewalls. I have started all of the remote services on the Gateway automatically. I have set the certificate to connect no matter what. Nothing seems to make a difference. The symptom is that RDC says it is securing a connection then configuring the session. After about two minutes it returns to the RDC initiation screen so I can do it all over again.

I am also seeing this issue. Anyone have any ideas?

No info of value has been given, the first place to look is the event logthere has to be an error until you start posting info (which by the way should have been a new thread)there is not much to do but guess.

I just fixed it on our Server 2008 R2 systems, although I have to investigate the cause more ....The fix… • Log on as an administrator to the remote 2008 server by using the console or by using Remote Desktop Services FROM A Windows XP CLIENT.• Open an elevated Command Prompt window (shift-right-click on the Command Prompt icon and select Run As Administrator, or type CMD in a run box and press ctrl-shift-Enter).• At the command prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER: winrm quickconfig• Answer Y to any prompts and then disconnect the remote session by closing the window (note: You do NOT have to restart the remote server).• You should now be able to connect to the remote server from the Windows 7 client, although it will appear to take longer than it does in XP, so be patient. Incidentally, this same fix can be used on a Windows 7 desktop PC to fix a problem where a Windows 2003 RDP connection from a Citrix server cannot connect to the Windows 7 system even though you have enabled legacy RDP client connections in both the System Properties ->Advanced System Properties -> Remote settings AND in the Local Group Policy editor (gpedit.msc). Horray!!!Enjoy (if it fixes your issue too),-Shaun
