Cannot create HomeGroup on machine running two networks
I have two machines connected by a wireless network. One also connects to the Internet. When I loaded Windows 7 onto the sattelite machine it created a Home Group and displayed the Server (running Windows XP) in the Network location. Everything worked fine. When I loaded Windows 7 onto he Server machine the Internet access still works on both machines but they will no longer talk to each other. Both machines say there is no Homegroup to connect to when I try to create the Homegroup. The troubleshooter seems to indicate that I can't create a Homegroup on a machine running two networks. Any ideas.

Hi, Here are some suggestions you can try: 1. Connect to Internet via wired cable instead of Wireless network for a test. Can you create a HomeGroup now? 2. Verify the IP address on each machine. Please be sure that they are in the same IP segment and Workgroup. If not, please manually assign IP address on each machine. 3. Enable IPv6 a. Open "Network Connections" window, right click the "Local Area Connection" and click Properties. b. Select "Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)" c. Click OK. 4. Verify relevant services a. Click "Start", type "services.msc" (without quotation marks) in Search Bar and press Enter. Note: If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type your password, or click Continue. b. Right click the "Peer Networking Grouping" service and choose Properties. c. Please check if the service is started; if not, please click the Start button and see if it works. d. You may also choose Automatic next to Startup type. e. Click OK. f. Please repeat the above steps with another service: PNRP Machine Name Publication Service. If there is any error message, please upload it to Skydrive (www.skydrive.live.com) and share the link to me. Thanks, Novak

Hi Novak,Thanks for your response. I have not had a chance to try all your suggestions yet. However I have found that the AVG Firewall was blocking the connection. I have taken this down and now have the situation where both machines are accessible on the Network. The Sattelite machine sets up the Homegroup correctly but the main machine (with Multiple Networks) is saying that no other Homegroup is available on the Network (although it is). However I can now share files and printers ok which is what I need to do. I will try some of your other suggestions when I have time. Thanks again.Alan.
