Cannot enable Real-Time Protection

Hi guys,

I recently tried to install Endpoint 2012 onto a Windows 2003 x86 server (vmware virtual machine). The installation went through OK but I cannot enable Real-time protection. The error is:

System Center Endpoint Protection couldn't turn on real-time protection.
This operation returned because the time out period expired.

I have searched through the server and cannot see any traces of previously installed antivirus program (previously was CA eTrust), also used the AppRemover to confirm there is nothing else detected.

Once if I reboot the server from here, it will not load Windows but gives BSOD of: (dump file option is enabled, but none is generated)

STOP: 0x0000007E (0xC0000005, 0xF72286DA, 0xF78A6A00, 0xF78A66FC)
FLTMGR.SYS - Address F72286DA base at F720E000, DateStamp 50ea1a19

Safe mode works, debugger mode doesn't (same BSOD), and the only way I can get back into Normal mode is to use "Last Known Good Configuration".

Once I do this and tried to start real-time protection again, it will give different error

Couldn't start the System Center Endpoint Protection service
The specified service does not exist as an installed service

...which I believe this is expected as the configure has been reverted.

Does anyone has any idea of this problem please? Thanks heaps!!

hi

Sorry for late response.

Please make sure that no other security softwares installed and time protection feature is turned on. In addition, since the System Center Endpoint Protection service does not exist as an installed service, maybe you can reinstall it to see if the issue persists.
