Cannot install ActiveX control.
Windows XP SP3 and all updates with 3GB RAM.When one opens Windows Update, the Web site offers Microsoft Update. Once the preliminary stuff is passed, and one is waiting for the system to request the installation of the ActiveX control, Internet Explorer becomes inactive. When simply doing a Windows Update all updates are current.Any thoughts?Chuck the 80 year Old dogstill learning new tricks!1 person needs an answerI do too

You mean the download warning? That may be a sign of malware - try using Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (www.malwarebytes.org). Download, install, update, and run a Quick scan of the system - see if it finds anything significant.-- Noel Paton | Nil Carborundum Illegitemi | CrashFixPC | The Three-toed Sloth

Noel,I had run Malwarebytes, SUPERAntiSpyware, Spybot Search & Destroy, Microsoft Security Essentials, all with full or deep scans. I have now wiped the hard drive and performed a clean install. I am now installing SP3. Thanks for your responses.Chuck the 80 year Old dogstill learning new tricks!
