Cannot open Action Centre
Has anybody seen anything like this before?I have two action points regarding problems with Internet Explorer but I cannot open either of them. When I click on the link I get an error box saying:[Window Title]::{26EE0668-A00A-44D7-9371-BEB064C98683}\5\::{BB64F8A7-BEE7-4E1A-AB8D-7D8273F7FDB6}\pageDisplaySolution?rk=C%3A%5CUsers%5Cuser%5CAppData%5CLocal%5CMicrosoft%5CWindows%5CWER%5CReportArchive%5CAppCrash_iexplore.exe_6fe24372e290cc8b989271618238ce28f456a_04234dc2&rs=0 [Content]Windows cannot find '::{26EE0668-A00A-44D7-9371-BEB064C98683}\5\::{BB64F8A7-BEE7-4E1A-AB8D-7D8273F7FDB6}\pageDisplaySolution?rk=C%3A%5CUsers%5Cuser%5CAppData%5CLocal%5CMicrosoft%5CWindows%5CWER%5CReportArchive%5CAppCrash_iexplore.exe_6fe24372e290cc8b989271618238ce28f456a_04234dc2&rs=0'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again. [OK]Also, when I click on the 'Open Action Centre' link at the bottom nothing happens.I am running Windows 7 ultimate which was installed as a Vista Ultimate upgrade. I'm tempted to do a clean install but thought I would try here first. Thanks in advanceBrian

Sounds like IE is dorked up. There's a couple of different ways to fix this as it doesn't sound like Windows 7 itself has problems, but just to be sure, run from the command line SFC /SCANNOW and see if it finds any problems. The easiest way to fix (if it isn't bad broken) IE is to just reset it from (does IE8 open?) Tools, Internet Options, Advanced tab, Reset button. That will reset it back to its defaults. Suggestion 2: Run IE without Add-ons ============================= 1. Click Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, Internet Explorer (No Add-ons). 2. Visit website in this IE. Does it work? Clean Boot =========================== 1. Click Start, type MSCONFIG in the Search Bar and Press Enter to start the System Configuration Utility. 2. Click the Services tab, check the Hide All Microsoft Services box and click Disable All (if it is not gray). 3. Click the Startup tab, click Disable All and click OK. 4. Restart the computer and test the issue. Please monitor the system in the Clean Boot environment. If the problem does not occur, it indicates that the problem is related to one application or service we have disabled. You may use the MSCONFIG tool again to re-enable the disabled item one by one to narrow down the problem. Hope it helps. If the issue persists after trying cdobbs' suggestions, please reset Internet Explorer (IE) by the steps below: Note: the following steps will remove all of installed add-ons and reset IE to default settings. We need to reinstall the add-ons after resetting. 1. Click "Start", type "inetcpl.cpl" (without quotation marks) into “Search” bar and press "Enter" to open the “Internet Options” window. 2. Switch to the "Advanced" tab. 3. Click "Reset…" to reset Internet Explorer settings. 4. Check "Delete personal settings" box and click "Reset" to confirm the operation. 5. Click "Close" when the resetting process is complete. 6. Close the Internet Explorer window and restart IE to check the issue. For more information about how to troubleshoot the Internet Explorer 8 issue, please refer to the following article: You cannot view, access, or load some Web pages when you use Internet Explorer 8 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/967897 If the issue persists, please create a new user account and see if the issue occurs.
