Cannot ping nor navigate to the router with vista but windows xp is ok.
Hi All! I have a network with windows xp and now a few machines with Vista. The network works ok with XP (we can navigate and ping to the router, and the rest of the machines) but with Vista we cannot ping to the router (but we can ping to the rest of the network without any problem). I have being monitoring with wireshark, and appears that the systems with Vista are not sending any packet to the router IP. Any idea of what happens??? Thanks in advance.

Hi, Before we go further, I would like to confirm: 1. How does the Windows Vista machine get IP address? Statically configure or assigned by DHCP server? 2. Can the Windows Vista machine get IP address from the Router? 3. Can the Windows Vista machine access the Internet? 4. What is the exact wording of the error message when you try to ping the Router? In addition, please collect the following information for further research: 1. Export the Windows IP Configuration by using the command ipconfig /all: 2. Network packets:1) Download NetMon3.1 from the following website and install it on the Windows Vista machine:http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=18b1d59d-f4d8-4213-8d17-2f6dde7d7aac&DisplayLang=en2) Log onto the machines, right-click the Netmon icon and select Run as Administrator to launch NetMon3.1.3) In the Microsoft Network Monitor 3.1 window, click Create a new capture tab 4) In the new tab, select all the Network Adapters in the Select Networks window.5) After that, press F10 to start NetMon.6) Try to ping the Router. 7) After the issue reproduce, go back to the NetMon window and press F11 to stop the NetMon. 8) Press Ctrl+S to save the Netmon file Please zip the above files and upload to the following space: https://sftasia.one.microsoft.com/choosetransfer.aspx?key=7ab14d36-4aa4-4085-b096-a160bc912362 Password: D!X1@SSB1vIjB^a] Note Please drop a quick note in the current thread to inform me after uploading the file.
