Cannot rejoin work domain after reconfiguring for workgroup
My machine was configured by corporate IT with me as a domain user account. I took the laptop home (in another state) and wanted to temporarily hook up to my home machines via a workgroup. I modified the name/domain/workgroup settings to use a new workgroup instead of the domain set up by corporate. The idea was to copy over a few files and then revert to using the corp domain. However, when I tried to switch back to using the domain, I get an error saying access denied. My IT guy says I need to fly back to corporate to get my machine back on the domain!!! Now my original domain login with all my settings has disappeared from the login page. I can login locally as admin and VPN into the corp using Aventail VPN. Question: Since I am VPN'd in, isn't there someway to remotely enable my account on the domain? Or do I have to hop on a plane and fly halfway across the country? Thanks for any help. Oscar

Depends on a few factors. How they set up the vpn to work and whether you have the rights as a user to join a computer to the domain. Based on the fact that your IT dept told you that you needed to fly back that would tell me that you need to do that. for the future though you dont need to join your computer to a workgroup to share files between computers on your home network. Dislaimer 1:As usual I could be way off so no playing like I'm Frankenstein. Disclaimer 2: my Speeling and proofing skills are teh fail
