Cannot remove a network connection from preferred network list
Hello I can not connect to the internet despite having a working wireless connection, and I think I know the reason. I used to use a wireless network a few years ago but no longer do. When I look in my Preferred Wireless Connection List under network settings I see that not only is it at the top of the list but it is set to connect even when not accessible. I cannot lower its priority nor can I uncheck that box, whenever I do I recieve an error message telling me that "one or more changes could not be made." What should I do? I have no use for that connection anymore and am willing to get rid of it perminentaly if I can, but I suppose I need to do so from another angle. Thanks. 1 person needs an answerI do too

The normal way to remove an unwanted wireless connection in XP is: 1. If you were using Windows (Wireless Zero Configuration) to connect, right-click the Wireless Network Connection icon in the Notification Area (bottom right of screen), then click View Available Wireless Networks. Under Preferred networks, click the wireless network you don’t want then click Remove. 2. If you were using the adapter’s software, it will be similar to right-clicking the Signal icon > Open utility > Wireless Networks Tab. Highlight the one not wanted and click Remove. You may need to stop the adapter’s program from starting up (Start > All Programs > Startup > right-click it and Delete or use msconfig if it starts from a registry key).
