Cannot remove a printer that has a yellow triangle with an exclamation point
The printer is an HP PSC 1510 that for some reason wouldn't load the driver properly. It fails everytime. I tried a different approach to installing the printer and got the printer to work but the but the printer that had the botched install still shows up in the devices and printers list with a yellow triangle and an exclamation point. Everytime the computer is started up now, it wants to try and install the driver for this printer and I can't get rid of it. If I right click on the printer, there is no option to remove the printer. I don't have an option to load the printer management in the MMC.

Hi, Try and removing any pending print jobs first... Can you remove it from the device manager? Have you tried from there? RegardsNaki K. / Falcon IT Services IT Manager for Mextone Corp.

Hi, If the printer still shows the yellow triangle and an exclamation point, it indicates the driver is not installed properly. Is it a network printer? If not, you can delete it from registry. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Printers Once you are in this Key (Folder), you will see the list of printers you have installed under the plus. Right click the key and choose export for backup. Then remove the printer name which you want to delete and reboot. I had the 'Yellow Triangle' on my computer icon; Whilst the computer worked OK I still wanted to delete it. So I when into system restore and moved my computer to an earlier time, it worked for me. However check your anti virus, I had to un-install and then re- install Norton Security 2011 for it to function properly. If you have any other software not working correctly , delete and re-install. hoe this helps.
