Hi I recently ran into a very stanage problem (Win7/64) . I could not click HTPP links in an e-mail, outlook told me ...this funtion was aborted due to a restriction on this computer, contact your administrator. I figured (I believe) this was due to IE8 not being the default browser. I called up IE and it told me it is not the default browser. So I set it to be it and closed it. After calling up IE again it told me again not being the defualt broeser and if I want to make it ht edefault. This went on endlessly. Alternatively, I called up Internetoptions from the control panel, went into Programs, saw that IE was NOT the default changed it and also clicked that it should warn me if it is not the default - but this did not help. After clicking ok and re-calling internnetoptions the IE again was NOt the default. Can anyone in the know please help me with this very basic thing ??? Thanks ErikEAR

Please contact your system administrator.” To fix this issue, you could try the following steps: Note: back up the registry before you modify it. 1. Verify if the String (Default) value of the "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT \.html" key is htmlfile 2. Click Start, and then click Run. 3. In the Open box, type regedit, and then click OK. 4. Locate the following registry key: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT \.html 5. Verify if the value of the String (Default) is "htmlfile". If it's not "htmlfile", right-click (Default), click Modify, input htmlfile in the Value data box, and then click OK. 6. Exit Registry Editor. Regarding your Internet Explorer cannot set as default browser; you could refer to the following article: Change default programs using Set Program Access and Computer Defaults Try to use Microsoft Windows configuration. Aklex, I did not onlymodify HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT \.html but also HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT \.htm - then it worked. No idea who changed it though. Thanks again ErikEAR
