Certificate required when setting up Microsoft Exchange account in Mail app

When I try to set up my Exchange account in the Mail app, it doesn't work.  It says "To use this account, you need to install a digital certificate on this PC.  Contact your system administrator for more info."

Well, unfortunately I am the system administrator and I don't know how to do this.  I tried installing a Comodo email security certificate, with no luck.

Please help.  I can't believe that I couldn't find any Microsoft documentation on this.

The Mail app at present is very cumbersome for business and enterprise

You may need to look at relaxing your active sync polices on your Exchange server.

If this is not an option there are unsupported methods to get certificates on your device, but as you mentioned there is little to no information for domain environments.

Ok thanks.  I'll check into the ActiveSync settings and see if I can wiggle through.

I am really puzzled about why there's no documentation.  I thought Microsoft was trying to push Win8 on everybody, including the Surface Pro tablets.  Maybe they think everybody will be using Outlook on their tablets?  Hopefully this will be fixed in Blue.

Same here on the documentation front,

It seems enterprise has been forgotten about but at the same time Windows 8 is still in its infancy.

Let us know how you go..

Hi,

Try to manually install the certificate, install both the exchange certificate and the self signed root into trusted roots.
