Change the size of apps on the displays that support it (Skydrive Sync problem)

I have a Surface Pro. The 'Modern UI' is too chunky for my liking so I do the following:

PC Settings > PC & Devices > Display > Change the size of apps on the displays that can support it

I change the setting from DEFAULT to SMALLER. It then looks good and I can fit more on my start screen.

I also have a Desktop with a 27" 2560x1440 resolution display. If I go to:

PC Settings > PC & Devices > Display > Change the size of apps on the displays that can support it

The options are DEFAULT or LARGER. Obviously I want DEFAULT.

The problem is that Skydrive Syncs all my settings so whenever I wake up my Surface that setting has reverted back to DEFAULT to coincide with the settings on my desktop. This then makes everything large again. I need to change it back to SMALLER every time I wake the Surface, this is slightly annoying.

I do not want this setting to Sync and it doesn't make sense that it should because it makes the assumption that all devices a user has, have the same screen size which will not be the case 99% of the time.

Its not a Surface question. It's a Windows 8.1 question.

The problem is regarding the behaviour of Windows 8.1 which runs on two different devices (as you would have noticed if you read past the first sentence).
